Daruma Wrapped in Scenery

・Daruma Wrapped in Scenery
I was raised on a farm in my childhood, surrounded by the landscapes of mountains and rivers. The sights and sounds of nature—the vast green mountains, the flowing rivers, and the small stones scattered along the riverbed—remain deeply ingrained in my heart to this day.

When I began ceramics and encountered antiques, I learned that the “atmosphere” within an object is referred to as “scenery.” I realized that a ceramic piece is not just an object, but something that carries within it a space and an air that can evoke various landscapes in the minds of those who view it.

In this “Daruma Wrapped in Scenery,” I aim to drape the figurative form of Daruma with the landscapes woven from the natural elements of mountains and rivers. Each stone, each grain of clay, is carefully layered to evoke a rich, natural landscape. I want viewers to feel the profound and mystical scenery that extends beyond the physical form of the Daruma itself—so that they may not just see a piece of pottery, but feel a landscape that stays with them, resonating deeply in their hearts.
