Broken Daruma

・Broken Daruma
This Daruma shattered in the kiln during firing due to a rapid temperature increase, leaving the back portion completely destroyed. However, the front part miraculously remained intact. Rather than discarding this as a failed piece, I decided to breathe new life into what remained.

The preserved front portion was reassembled and secured using glaze, transforming it into a wall-mounted Daruma. The cracks and traces of the explosion were intentionally left untouched, serving as a testament to the story of its creation and embodying the beauty of imperfection.

This piece reflects my philosophy of finding new value in broken things. Just as life is filled with unexpected challenges and setbacks, so too does pottery hold moments where chance creates beauty. Through this Daruma, I hope to convey the resilience and potential for renewal that lies within brokenness.

・壊レタ達磨
この達磨は、焼成中に温度を急激に上げたことが原因で窯の中で爆発し、背面部分が粉々になってしまいました。しかし、前面部は奇跡的に形を保っていました。この壊れた達磨をただの失敗作として捨てるのではなく、残った部分に新たな命を吹き込むことにしました。

残った前面部を釉薬で接着し、壁掛けの達磨として生まれ変わらせました。爆発の跡やひび割れは、この作品の一部としてそのまま残されています。それらは制作過程での出来事を語る痕跡であり、完全ではない美しさを象徴しています。

この達磨は、「壊れたものに新たな価値を見出す」という私の哲学を体現した作品です。人生にも、失敗や予期せぬ出来事があるように、陶芸にも偶然が生み出す美しさがあります。この作品を通じて、壊れたものにこそ宿る力強さと再生の可能性を感じていただければ幸いです。
